Welcome to the official international platform for Colombia's energy & mining Industries, key components in the country’s proposed energy transition between 2022 and 2050.

This important event is supported by the Ministry of Mines and Energy, the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, and will gather multiple government authorities, the energy and mining private sectors, SMEs, innovation and technology providers, legal players, consulting firms, as well as energy and mining national and international investors.

The Colombia Energy & Mining Summit 2022 is a two day event, focusing on the country’s energy transition agenda, hydrogen route & fuels of the future; copper, gold, silver and phosphate sustainable mining; and conventional resource potential, just to mention a few topics.

As organizers of global high-profile summits and exhibitions, as well as promotional campaigns for governments, we are committed to bringing our expertise to Colombia to attract foreign investment and new international partners for the country’s government and national oil company, focus the industry’s attention on Colombia’s energy transition endeavors, Energy Plan 2050 & recent IEA membership, and effectively accelerate the development of the country’s entire energy landscape.

Advances in Hydrogen

Take part in Colombia’s latest energy transition opportunities:

As of 2021, Colombia has a hydroelectric installed capacity of 11,834 MW, the third largest in South America. Summed to this, the country has a 700 MW solar and wind installed capacity, which accounts for a 2,400% increase since 2018; 14.4 MW of geothermal installed capacity with 2,210 MW of untapped potential; and 25 MW of biomass installed capacity.

Furthermore, during 2021 Colombia presented its ‘Hydrogen Route’, a roadmap to to establish over the next 30 years the production, use and export of hydrogen as a clean energy source for use in transport and industry, among other sectors.

According to the Ministry of Mines and Energy, “Colombia has all the resources to be a regional and world leader for the production of hydrogen, and has pilot projects for producing and using hydrogen due to begin in 2022.”

Colombia’s mining sector developments in recent years have sparked the interest of the industry worldwide. Summed to extensive regulation, blockchain and formalized mining will continue to attract project investment in gold, silver, copper, phosphate, among other minerals.

Besides being the leading coal producer in Latin America and 12th in the world (approximately 62.5 mt in 2021), Colombia is also the third largest exporter of coking and metallurgical coal worldwide. Adjacent to coal, the country currently produces 90% of the world’s emeralds, and produces approximately 33 t of gold, 9,400 mt of copper and 42,700 t of phosphates.
